Celebrating its 17th anniversary this year, the Winter WonderFest event in Chicago has become a staple of the holiday season in this amazing city. The fest draws hundreds of people from all over the United States – and the rest of the world – to take part in winter wonder festivities that are unlike any other on the planet.
A fun event for the entire family, loaded with outdoor and indoor entertainment, food, and live music, this festival is the perfect way to get into the holiday spirit. The Winter WonderFest runs from December 1 to January 7 and is sure to be an even bigger spectacle this year than it has been in the past.
Hosted at Navy Pier in Chicago, The Winter WonderFest event is home to more than 170,000 ft.² of attractions, activities, and excitements for those native to Chicago as well as visitors to this great city from across the globe. There are dozens of different attractions all winter long, ranging from the ice-skating rink sponsored by the local Chicago Blackhawks, the winter carousel event, live music, great food, and special shows that are available for friends and family members of all ages.
The event opens with the Arctic Express Train Ride, a family-style trackless train that runs a 300-foot loop around the holiday village. Guests are invited to take advantage of this train ride whenever and wherever it makes a stop around the holiday village and will be able to commemorate their trip on the train with photos that are captured right before they board.
An arctic plunge ride gives everyone the opportunity to ride inflatable tubes down a gigantic slide, tumbling into a pit with stuffed polar bears and penguins to help break the fall. The Create a Cookie Cottage is sponsored this year by Aquafina, giving everyone the opportunity to come by and enjoy decorating freshly baked sugar cookies for just three dollars a cookie.
The Candy Cane Lighthouse is a big favorite with the little ones, rising them 16 feet in the air as part of the ride and then hopping them back down to the ground. The cliffhanger attraction is new, giving everyone the opportunity to hang glide across the holiday village at more than 40 feet in the air.
Bumper cars, holiday horses, and reindeer are all available to be enjoyed. Hot cocoa is also served on an around-the-clock basis, and many other events held at The Winter Wonderfest that you don’t want to miss!
